Monday morning was a testament to the power of Trevor's friendship.

Ten people made a pilgrimage from Austin to El Paso in a rented RV and ten more flew in from various parts of Texas and California.

There were about 150 people at Trevor's funeral. Trevor's "Austin" friends numbered twenty. One pilgrim observed that for a bunch of slackers, it was one hell of showing.

The Marine Corps did an amazing job of the services, full Military Honors of course. In all my sadness I kept remembering how much Trevor appreciated the brotherhood of the Marines. This was reiterated by his Battalion Commander who told us that all Marines fight for each other, and we all know that Trevor would be there for us in an instant, so you know that Trevor was one hell of a Marine.

Trevor's parents were inspirations to us all. They showed amazing compassion and amazing strength. You could tell where Trevor got his guts and his heart.

Alfonso spoke as a true best friend to Trevor and reminded us all that life is precious and good.

Also On Monday: Senator Ogden, whose son is in the same Marine Regiment as Trevor, Adjourned the Texas State Senate in memory of Trevor. You can watch the video by going to

http://www.senate.state.tx.us/avarchive/?year=2005 and scroll down the page to "Feb 28 Senate Session." The adjournment is near the end of the clip at 43:45.

Trevor is also listed in the Senate journal

http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/sjrnl/79r/pdf/sj02-28-f.pdf  on page 16 (of 18).

There is a website that adopted Trevor's Battalion and there is a story about Trevor and some photos of the memorial that his fellow Marines had for him in Iraq.

After the service at the cemetery, all of the family and friends went to the VFW post. They had food in Tupperware and foil set out on the pool table and a 75 year old woman serving drinks. It was kind of like if you had a family reunion at the Horseshoe Lounge - they had a padded bar and everything. I think there are a lot of us that have a fondness for places like that - and being there today was just right.   -Shelly
